This 19-year-old student claims she was the Teletubbies Sun Baby

She certainly does look like our Sun Baby.

OVER THE HILLS and far away, Teletubbies come to play…

Out of all the strange things about the late ’90s kids hit Teletubbies, the Sun Baby that giggled and gurgled in the sky was one of the weirdest.

Y’know, this little cutie:

But just who was that Sun Baby, and where are they now?

Well – Jess Smith, a first year college student at Canterbury Christ Church University, says she was the perennially happy baby in the sun that appeared at the start of every episode of the extremely weird kids’ show.

According to Uproxx, Smith filmed the part when she was nine months old and was paid £250 (and a box of toys) for her efforts.

She hadn’t told anyone outside of her family until she went to university, and decided to reveal her secret in an orientation game with classmates.

She wrote on Facebook:

So I recently celebrated my 19th birthday and after a lot of thought, I’ve decided it’s time to tell everyone. I used to hide it but after a lot of encouragement from my friends at university, I’ve gained the confidence to come out with it. I am the sun from Teletubbies. There has been quite a few people pretending to be ‘the sun’ but only I could tell you the real story.

She revealed that during filming she was seated in a high chair, so she would be looking down, and her dad made her laugh by playing with a teddy bear behind the camera. Aw.

Here’s what she looks like now.

We see it. We totally see it.
